La Ventana is a quiet Mexican fishing village located on the picturesque Sea Of Cortez. We are 40 minutes south of La Paz and about 2 hrs north of Cabo.
The Sea of Cortez offers up consistent winds from October thru April, turning the village into a wind sport paradise. The wind is side on and the curve of the bay means that no matter what happens on the water you'll have a beach to land on and be home in time for happy hour. The water is warm and many people ride without wetsuits but we recommend a 3/2 wetsuit to keep you warm and make the most of your time on the water.
There are multiple spots to kite from and when the wind is really blowing [an "El Norte"] we can get head high swell in several spots which makes for some very exciting days. Our experienced team of instructors know the best spots to make the most of every day. The wind normally starts around 11 or 12, leaving the mornings free for snorkelling, exploring, beach volleyball, SUPing or just relaxing. Around 5 the wind starts to back off and the chips and salsa start to call your name.
Only one paved road leads thru town so most places are accessible on foot or bicycle. Numerous local restaurants serve up delicious meals at reasonable prices, expect to spend $5-10 for a full breakfast and $10-15 on supper, including a beverage. There is always late night street meat, a bacon wrapped hot dog or some of the best hamburgers you will ever taste certainly go down well after a fantastic day on the water.
